Clara H. Dammann, 96

Clara Helen Dammann, age 96, of Glencoe, formerly of Lester Prairie, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.

She was born July 21, 1914, in Helen Township, the daughter of Edward and Emma (Mueller) Boesche. Clara was baptized as an infant Aug. 9, 1914, and was confirmed in her faith April 1, 1928, both by the Rev. R. Zwitscher at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato.

She received her education at St. John’s Parochial School, rural District 57 school, and was a graduate of Steven’s Seminary Class of 1933 in Glencoe.

Clara was united in marriage to Arnold Dammann Sept. 8, 1935, by the Rev. Baumann at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato. This marriage was blessed with four children, Edward, Keith, Joel, and Mary.

Arnold and Clara resided on the family farm near Lester Prairie. The couple shared 69 years of marriage, until Arnold passed away Oct. 15, 2004. Clara later moved to Orchard Estates in Glencoe.

A faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Clara was a member of the church choir and the ladies aid. As a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, she helped play the reed organ.

Clara was a loving homemaker and mother. She enjoyed helping on the farm, playing bingo and sheephead, crocheting bedspreads, ceramics, fishing, traveling, and taking care of her grandchildren. She loved her church dearly, and enjoyed listening to God’s Word. Clara especially cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Emma Boesche; a son, Keith Dammann; a great-granddaughter, Jasmine Branch; sisters Eldora Engelmann and her husband, Herbert, Lois Bargmann and her husband, Walter, and Martha Bergquist and her husband, Herb; a brother, Victor Boesche; and brothers-in-law Vernon Ernst, Clifford Terlinden.

She is survived by her children, Edward Dammann and his wife, Carol, of Glencoe, Joel Dammann and his wife, Lora, of Plymouth, and Mary Johnson and her husband, Dr. Steve, of Forest Lake; grandchildren Denise Pilarski and her husband, Jim, of Ft. Charlotte, FL, Jon Dammann and his wife, Debra, of Lester Prairie, Ryan Johnson and his wife, Denise, of Plymouth, Brent Johnson and his wife, Beatrix, of Ramsey, Andrea Dammann and her special friend, Terry Hayes, of St. Paul, and Heather Potter and her husband, Major Aron, of Boston, MA; and step-grandchildren Doug Flesher and his wife, Noelle, of Buffalo, and Kevin Flesher and his wife, Tina, of Colorado Springs, CO.

Clara is further survived by great-grandchildren Nicole Pilarski, Mitchel, Katelyn and Joellen Dammann, Forrest and Aymara Johnson, Annika Johnson, Keyara, and Alexis Branch, Alayna and Bradyn Potter, Jackson and Maverick Flesher, and Keith Flesher; sisters Vera Ernst and Sarah Terlinden, both of Glencoe; a sister-in-law, Laura Boesche of Chaska; godchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Sunday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with the Rev. David Erbel officiating. Kay Gueningsmann was the organist. Soloist RaNaye Odegaard sang “On Eagle’s Wings.” Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” and “Old Rugged Cross.” Interment was at the church cemetery.

Casket bearers were Denise Pilarski, Jon Dammann, Ryan Johnson, Brent Johnson, Andrea Dammann, and Doug Flesher.
