Willis “Bill” Donald Dressel, age 85, of Ramsey, formerly of Delano, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011.
He was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Maple Plain, to August and Eleanor (Lewis) Dressel.
Bill served in the Coast Guard during World War II and saw action in the Aleutian Islands.
He was a member of the Hopkins VFW, Delano American Legion, and the Coon Rapids/ Anoka American Legion posts.
Bill was a loving father with a wonderful sense of humor. He was an accomplished woodworker, able to craft anything he saw. Trunks, benches, birdhouses, and many other things were made by his capable hands and given with love to family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rosemary.
He is survived by his children, Gary (Peggy) Dressel, Sandy (Glenn) Streeter, Jackie (Rick) Martin, Connie (Terry) Abraham, and Lori Wendolek; grandchildren Jessica (Kyle) Miller, Patrick (Allison) Wendolek, Brian and Neil Dressel; great-grandchildren Gavin, Christian, and Nicholas; and a sister, Delores Riley.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Feb. 25 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delano at 11 a.m., with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Frank Wampach was the celebrant for the Mass. Military honors were provided by Delano American Legion Post 377.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
