Raymond E. Dummer, 89

Raymond E. Dummer, age 89, of Mayer, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at his home.

He was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Mayer, the son of August and Emma (Villnow) Dummer. Raymond was baptized Jan. 1, 1922, and confirmed April 13, 1935, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. F.W. Erthal.

Raymond was united in marriage to Sylvia H. Burandt May 21, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. Schneider.

A loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa, Raymond’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing cards, snowmobiling, gardening, and just being outdoors.

He was a firearms instructor and a member of the Mayer Sportsman’s Club.

Raymond was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Kay Dummer; parents August and Emma Dummer; brother and sister-in-law Edwin and Lillian Dummer; and sister and brother-in-law La Vern and Charles Best.

He is survived by his loving family: wife Sylvia; sons and daughters-in-law Neil and Colleen Dummer, and Dale and Debbie Dummer, all of Mayer; grandchildren Robert Dummer, Michael and Heather Dummer, Jeffery Dummer, and Jonathan and Randi Dummer; great-grandchildren Kyle, Gavin, and Elizabeth; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Pearl Menden of Shakopee, Alvin and Flora Burandt of Norwood Young America, Marjorie Lenz of Watertown, Darlene Tesch of Shakopee, Annie Burandt of Buffalo, Larry and Joyce Burandt of Lester Prairie, Diane Kyes of Bismarck, N.D., and Karen and Marcel Gueningsman of Shakopee; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with the Rev. Lucas Woodford officiating. Interment was at Faith Rutze Lake Cemetery in Waconia.

Visitation was Monday, Aug. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with a chapel service at 7:30 p.m.;and continued Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Casket bearers were Robert Dummer, Michael Dummer, Jeffery Dummer, Jonathan Dummer, Fred Lenz, Joel Best, and Glen Dummer.
