Lorraine Marie Engelman, age 92, of Winsted, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2011, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born Nov. 12, 1919, in Stockholm Township, Wright County, the daughter of John Arthur and Lillian (Anderson) Nelson. Lorraine was baptized as an infant, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth.
She received her education in Dassel, and graduated in 1938.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Elton Engelman May 16, 1943, at Stockholm Church in Stockholm Township, Wright County. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Hale Township.
Lorraine held employment at Tonka Toys and Edco Manufacturing Co. in Winsted, retiring at the age of 80.
Elton and Lorraine shared 67 years of marriage until Elton passed away May 5, 2010. They were blessed with four children.
Lorraine enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and reading the paper. She loved visiting with friends and neighbors, and especially loved the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, LuAnn Murphy of Maple Plain, Gwen Rusch and her husband, Larry, of Las Vegas, NV, Harlan Engelman of Winsted, and Roxanne Yurek and her husband, Ronald, of Silver Lake; grandchildren Pamela Murphy, Chad Murphy, Jeremy Rusch, Jody Large, Christy Charbonneau, and Matthew Wosmek; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Elton, Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, John Arthur and Lillian Nelson; and a brother, Willard.
A funeral service took place Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Stockholm Lutheran Church in Cokato with the Rev. Mark Little officiating.
Casket bearers were Lorraine’s six grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
