Brad Michael Frantsen, age 57, of South Haven, MS, formerly of Mayer, left us and took off onto the winding Harley road on his journey to heaven, Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at 1:09 a.m., at the Baptist Hospital in South Haven, MS.
A memorial service for Brad will take place Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Finn’s Place, 421 Ash Avenue North in Mayer. Everyone is welcome to wear their leathers, celebrate Brad’s life, and toast him with a Premium.
Brad was born Nov. 11, 1953, in Lakefield, MN, to Duke and Lauretta Frantsen. He attended Chaska High School, and entered the Army in 1971. He was honorably discharged after serving two years in Kansas and in Germany.
He then enrolled into Dunwoody Institute, where he studied auto body, which he made his career.
He had a son, Dustin, with Melanie Mattson Oct. 29, 1972.
Brad married Rachel Shanahan Sept. 26, 1998.
Brad and Rachel shared a love of riding their Harley. On three occasions, they were fortunate enough to share time together and embark on month-long cross-country journeys.
Enjoying the open road on his motorcycle with Rachel was where Brad really felt alive.
Let us all find solace in our hearts that he was one of the lucky ones to find such pleasure in life.
Brad is survived by his loving wife, Rachel; son, Dustin, Dustin’s wife, Dawnelle, and their daughter, Payton; daughters, Patty (Wayne); Mary (Jon); sons, Rob, and wife, Hillary; and T.J. and wife, Rachel; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; his mother, Lauretta; sister, Sue and “Farmer;” brother, Drew and Nina; brothers and sisters-in-law, Judy and Lee, Siggy, Pudgy and Dave, RaNaye and Chip, Debbie, Greg and Sharon; several nieces and nephews; and a lot of friends.
Brad is preceded in death by his father, Duke; sister, Jill; in-laws, Lois and Wally; and sister-in-law, Henrietta.
