Lawrence J. Gabriel, age 83, of Delano, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at the Golden LivingCenter in Delano.
Lawrence was a lifelong farmer in the Delano and Independence area.
He served in the US Air Force, and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
Lawrence was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Mary (Gonsior) Gabriel; and a brother, Clarence.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay; children Colleen (Paul) Beranek, David (MaryAnn), Julie Gabriel, Philip (Tammy), Mary (Rich) Hirstein, Mark (Lynn), and Laura (Trent) Braiedy; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Rosemary Gabriel.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delano, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery in Delano. Military Honors were provided by the Delano American Legion Post 377.
Visitation was Monday, Feb. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, with a 3:30 p.m. rosary; and continued Tuesday for one hour prior to Mass at the church.
Lawrence’s grandchildren were his casket bearers.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
