Eleanor Mary Gunnerson, age 83, of Cokato, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at the Buffalo Hospital.
She was born May 23, 1927, in Waverly, to Edwin and Alice (Dondoneau) LaFave. Her father passed away at a young age.
Eleanor grew up in Waverly and attended parochial school.
She worked as a waitress and various other jobs until marrying Rodney Gunnerson in 1946, in Annandale. Rodney then entered the service.
Upon his return, Eleanor and Rod settled down to raise a family, and farm. A daughter, Sandy, was born to their union.
Eleanor enjoyed life. She liked to garden, loved the farm animals, and enjoyed fishing and picking cranberries with Irene Strey.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Pat) Paumen of Baxter; grandson Todd (significant other Lori Jensen and her daughter, Lexuz) of Baxter; and granddaughter-in-law Chris of Brainerd.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Alice; husband Rodney; a grandson, Shawn; and sisters Ione and Lorraine.
The funeral service took place Tuesday, March 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale, with interment at Woodland Cemetery of Annandale.
Visitation was Monday, March 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, and continued Tuesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato.
