Florence M. (Japs) Heinzen, age 97, lifelong resident of Maple Plain, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011.
She was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Delano, to Louis and Martha (Krueger) Japs.
Florence loved her family; spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was the focus of her life. She was an accomplished cook and baker, known for her apple kuchen and beautiful garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; four brothers, Louis Japs, Fred Japs, George Japs, and Albert Japs; and four sisters, Lydia Bryant, Addie Farnick, Lillian Heinzen, and LaVern Wandersee.
Florence is survived by her children, Howard Heinzen, Russell (Ruth) Heinzen, Dennis (Lois) Heinzen, and Darlene (George) DeLuca; grandsons Thomas (Julia) Heinzen, Jesse (Sara) Heinzen, Mark DeLuca, and Christopher DeLuca; great-grandchildren Ryan Heinzen, Cora Heinzen, and Emma Heinzen; sister-in-law Lorraine Japs; brothers-in-law Raymond (Harriet) Heinzen, and Richard Heinzen; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services took place Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Maple Plain with Pastor Meg Neswanger officiating. Interment was in the Lewis Cemetery in Maple Plain.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
