Edwin P. Kaelberer, age 88, of Waconia, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at the Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice Home in Chaska.
He was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Morton County, ND, the son of Gustav and Louise (Froh) Kaelberer.
Edwin was united in marriage to Louise Wiegers June 15, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie.
Edwin enjoyed woodworking, making a number of different things. He loved listening to old tyme music and playing it on his accordion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; parents Gustav and Louise Kaelberer; and sisters Lillian Stender and Irene Neidhardt.
Edwin is survived by his children and their spouses: Joanne and Nick Giusti of Millbridge, ME, Dwayne Kaelberer of Norwood Young America, and Clyde and Beth Kaelberer of Montrose; grandchildren Andrew and Shawna Kaelberer, and Christina Kaelberer; great-grandchildren Tyson and Mason Kaelberer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Kathryn and Walter Tabatt of Long Prairie, Rose and Orrin Alsleben of Winthrop, Lawrence and Mary Wiegers of Long Prairie, and Andrew and Dora Wiegers of Sauk Centre; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with the Rev. Dave Larson officiating. There was visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Andrew Kaelberer, Mark Klein, Gary Klein, Jerry Sullivan, Kevin Weinzierl, and Les Hittesdorf.
