Dale D. Karels, age 68, of Buffalo, formerly of Delano, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Dale was born July 5, 1943, in Winsted Township, the son of Elmer G. and Hilma B. (Domjahn) Karels.
He was united in marriage to Cynthia Nelson Dec. 19, 1964, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Paul by the Rev. Koch.
Dale had a love for life. His wife, children, and grandchildren meant the world to him. He would often plan get-togethers to spend time with family and friends.
A nature lover, Dale enjoyed being outdoors, especially goose hunting.
He is a retired Minnetonka High School teacher and took great pride in it. He was also a very good story teller, and would often do word and Sudoku puzzles.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Hilma Karels; and a brother, Orlin Karels.
He is survived by his loving family; wife, Cindy; children Amy (Scott) Paumen of Maple Lake, and Andrea, and Matt Hunter; grandchildren Kayla Menne, Gretchen Menne, Katelyn Paumen, Mason Hunter, and Shanley Hunter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Greg and Linda Nelson of Stillwater, Janis and Roger Leppla of Princeton, and Kathy Miller and Dave Griffith of Northfield; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo with the Rev. Luke Schmidt officiating, with interment at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany.
Visitation was Monday, Oct. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and continued Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Casket bearers were Mark Karels, Scott Karels, Jon Hill, Dave Smith, Scott Paumen, and Matt Hunter.
Honorary casket bearers were Bill Fulcher, Mike Lichty, Gary Peterson, Jerry Engwall, and Tom Zabel.
