Eleanor Marcella “Ellie” Kegler, age 79, of Brooklyn Park, formerly of Winsted, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at her home.
She was born June 29, 1932, in Winsted, the daughter of Hubert and Eleanore LaMott Haekenkamp.
Eleanor graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1950.
She was joined in holy marriage to Harold Kegler May 28, 1955, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with four daughters.
Eleanor was employed for many years as a head cook with the Osseo School District 279.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Harold B. Kegler; four daughters and families: Carol Ann Romes and sons, Jonathan and Andrew, of Hobart, IN, Colleen Kegler (Bruce Burkowske) of Winsted, Maryellen and Todd Anderson and children, Laura, Dylan and Mikayla, of Champlin, and Nancy and David Harrison and sons, Nathaniel, Christian, and Michael of Preston; three sisters: Agnes Kautz and Mary Ann Mallak, both of Silver Lake, and Marlys (Sonny) Carlson of Maple Lake; a brother, Hubert (Judith) Haekenkamp of Winsted; and many other relatives and friends.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Eleanore Haekenkamp; a brother, Edwin Haekenkamp; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Anna Kegler.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, with Father Tony Hesse as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, Sept. 26 at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted from 4 to 8 p.m., with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m.
Eleanor’s eight grandchildren were her casket bearers.
