Eldora L. Klugow Obituary – 11/18/2011


Eldora Lillian Klugow, age 90, of Howard Lake, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Howard Lake.

She was born June 26, 1921, in St. Paul, the daughter of Jake and Lillian (Harrington) Engelman. Eldora was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, and confirmed in her faith at this church also.

Eldora was married to Marvin Klugow April 24, 1938, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. Their marriage was blessed with six children.

Marvin and Eldora lived north of Howard Lake, where they farmed. Eldora was also employed at Tonka Toys in Mound and later, at the Lake Bowl in Howard Lake.

In 1965, Marvin and Eldora sold the farm and moved into town.

Eldora enjoyed camping, gardening, and growing flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; parents Jake and Lillian Engelman; a daughter, Sandy; and a grandson, Joshua Mattson.

Eldora is survived by her children, Chester (Helen) Klugow, Janice (Jim) Brooks, Gary (Diane) Klugow, Judy Mattson, and Connie (Dan) Laney; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral service took place Tuesday, Nov. 22 at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld officiating. Interment was Wednesday, Nov. 23 at the Howard Lake Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
