Lois Marie (Munson) Kratochwill, age 91, of Howard Lake, was called to her eternal rest Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Care Center.
She was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Howard Lake, the daughter of Charles and Marie (Kreitlow) Adams. Lois was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church, Howard Lake, and confirmed in her faith at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake March 25, 1934, by the Rev. C.G. Seltz.
Lois was married to Roger Munson Oct. 6, 1943, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake. Their marriage was blessed with three sons.
An active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, Lois served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the church choir, was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and served on various committees. In 1967, Lois and her sister made a huge pinecone wreath that hung in the St. James church narthex for years.
When enjoying winters in Texas, Lois was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, McAllen, TX.
Lois married Gerald Kratochwill Sept. 2, 2000, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie Adams; husband Roger Munson; and sisters LaVerne (George) Krohn and Dorothy (George) Jones.
Lois is survived by her husband, Gerald Kratochwill; sons Allan (Donna) Munson, Randall (Sharon) Munson, and Tim Munson; stepchildren Lyndon (Kay) Kratochwill, Karen (Bill Bonnstetter) Killoren, and Wayne Kratochwill; grandchildren Aaron (Liz) Munson, Jennifer (Neil) Wikoff, Corey (Michele) Munson, Russel (Allie) Munson, Sheryl (Jeremy) Vold, and Scott Munson; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a host of relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of her life took place Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake with the Revs. Martin Schoenfeld and Michael Nirva officiating. The Ladies of the LWML sang “My Faith Looks Up to Thee,” with Nancy Butterfass serving as organist. “The Lord’s Prayer,” an arrangement written by Scott Munson, was performed by Scott, Aaron and Russel Munson. Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and continued Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Lois’ grandchildren and their spouses were pallbearers.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
