George “Butch” Lachermeier, age 95, of Winsted, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe.
Butch was born Dec. 22, 1915, in Lester Prairie, to George and Mary (Remer) Lachermeier.
He was extremely proud to have served his country!
Butch married Elmerine Kieser at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and the couple made their home in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with two children.
Butch and Elmerine farmed until their retirement. They moved to the town of Winsted in 1996.
A member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Family Catholic Aid, the Winsted Legion, and Senior Dining, Butch enjoyed working at the Legion breakfasts, especially pouring coffee.
He was also very involved with Holy Trinity church and school.
Butch truly enjoyed mowing the lawn with his John Deere tractor and sitting on his front porch.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elmerine; children Patty (Matt) Cafferty of Lester Prairie, and Doug Lachermeier of Winsted; sisters-in-law Florentine Lachermeier, Alice Lachermeier, Daisy Lachermeier, and Sally Lachermeier; as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Dawn Loew Oct. 26, 1997; and siblings Joe Lachermeier, Leo Lachermeier, Tony Lachermeier, Sr., Benny Lachermeier, Paul Lachermeier, Leonard Lachermeier, Allie Lachermeier, Magdalen Hertzog, and Ann Boyle.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Fr. Tony Hesse was the celebrant, and interment with military rites followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday, March 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a Holy Family rosary at 4 p.m., a Legion prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued Monday, March 7 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Casket bearers were John Lachermeier, David Lachermeier, Glen Lachermeier, Dale Lachermeier, Stan Lachermeier, and Tony Lachermeier, Jr.
