Mark R. Lacina, Sr., age 93, of Hamburg, PA, went home to be with his Lord Friday, Oct. 7, 2011.
He was born in Buffalo, the son of the late Arthur and Emma (Otten) Lacina.
Mark was a US Army veteran of World War II; serving as a tech sergeant in the 78th division. He was a Purple Heart recipient, and also received other medals when he was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge.
Mark worked for 35 years as a chief mechanic and foreman for Public Service Electric and Gas, Moorestown, Burlington County, NJ.
He was the husband of Gladys E. (MacMillan) Lacina. Mark and Gladys were married Jan. 16, 1943, and celebrated 68 years of marriage.
He was a member of Salem-Berne United Methodist Church in Hamburg, and was a former Sunday school teacher at Francis Childs Methodist Church in Collingswood, NJ, the church where he and Gladys weremarried.
Mark later became a member of Haddon Heights Baptist Church of New Jersey.
In addition to his wife, Gladys, Mark is survived by two sons: Mark R. Lacina, Jr. of Delanco, NJ; and Joseph A. Lacina, and his wife, Michele, of Sewell, NJ; and one daughter, Marilyn J. (Lacina), wife of David H. Gross of Hamburg, PA.
He is further survived by nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret (Lacina) Zimmerman of Winsted; and several nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Services took place Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 1:30 p.m. from Salem-Berne United Methodist Church in Hamburg, PA with the Rev. Daniel G. Herner officiating. Burial with military honors also took place, in Salem-Berne U.B. Cemetery.
A viewing took place in the church Tuesday, Oct. 11 from noon to 1:30 pm.
