Dean L. Latzig, age 51, of New Germany, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at his home.
He was born June 3, 1960, in Glencoe, the son of Lowell and Darlene (Stender) Latzig. Dean was baptized at the Glencoe hospital by the Rev. Weseloh, and confirmed at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany.
Dean collected 1/64 scale farm toys, and enjoyed attending toy shows. He cherished his time with Chad and Ashley; and enjoyed driving tractor, taking scenic drives, traveling, and also making popcorn.
He was preceded in death by a stillborn sister, Deanna; grandparents Paul and Margaret Latzig, and Wilford and Angeline (Knacke) Stender; and step-grandmother Selma Latzig.
Dean is survived by his loving family; mother and father Darlene and Lowell “Goodie” Latzig of New Germany; sister and brother-in-law Jodie and Robert Dobratz of New Germany; niece and goddaughter Ashley Dobratz and special friend Todd Dolezal; nephew Chad Dobratz; aunts and uncles Leona Latzig of Waconia, Hildegarde Schwartz of Mayer, Harold and Marie Latzig of Lester Prairie, Marcella Gebhardt of Winsted, Martin and Ruth Latzig of Howard Lake, Roland “Lefty” and Carol Latzig, Virgil and Phyllis Stender, and Jerome and Patricia Lhotka, all of Norwood Young America; as well as cousins, other relatives, and friends.
The funeral service took place Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, Oct. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, and continued Saturday one hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers were Jeff Schwartz, Keith Ziermann, Neil Brueggemeier, Derek Stender, Jim Menth, Linus Latzig, Tim Zellmann, and Dean Loehrs.
Honorary casket bearer was Jerry Goetz.
