Owen Roland Mattson, age 45, of Brooklyn Park, formerly of Cokato, died recently at his home.
He was born March 16, 1966, to Ray and Marianne (Stenberg) Mattson.
Owen attended Dassel-Cokato High School, where he excelled in academics and was involved in band and swimming.
At 17 years of age, he was accepted into the engineering program (MIT) at the University of Minnesota, where he also worked in cancer research. After graduation, he was an extremely dedicated and committed employee of Siemens, where he worked all his life.
Through his employment, he was selected as head engineer for projects in Spain and Columbia. He also traveled to Athens, Greece, where he was furnished with an apartment by the sea and was fluent in the Greek and Spanish languages. Owen often told his parents that his Seimens’ experiences were a “dream come true.”
He enjoyed gardening, reading, and traveling, and took great pride in his family, always looking for the good in everyone.
Owen is survived by his mother, Marianne, of Cokato; brothers Elliot (Alana) of Cokato, and Lance (Deann) of Wisconsin; niece and godchild, Autumn; nephew Austin, both of Hewett; nephew Hunter of Cokato; and many close friends and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Mattson; and half-sister, Brenda Lee Anderson.
