Betty M. Mitchell, age 77, of Duluth, formerly of Howard Lake, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice Sept. 10, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born March 23, 1934, in Howard Lake, to Ruben and May Engel.
Betty graduated from Howard Lake High School, and attended Minnesota Bible College and University of Minnesota Duluth.
She was employed at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, St. Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis, and First American National Bank in Duluth.
Betty was office manager and secretary for 25 years, working for her husband in his chiropractic office. She served as past president of the Minnesota State Chiropractic Auxiliary Association, was active and supportive of many Christian activities, including Pine Haven Christian Camp in Park Rapids; and was always doing things for, and helping others.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Nancy Wahna.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John David Mitchell; her brother, Brad, of Howard Lake, his son, Chad, of Winsted, and daughter, Jeni, of Watertown; a sister, Carol Anderson of Cokato; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A private family service will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Duluth, at Betty’s request.
