Judy Lee Monson, age 75, of Cokato, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at the Cokato Manor.
She was born Sept. 22, 1935, in Randelia, IA to Louis C. Wittenberg and Mildred M. Wittenberg (Compton).
Judy graduated from Dassel High School in 1953.
She married Clifford P. Monson March 27, 1954, and they made their home in the rural Dassel area. Later, they moved to Cokato, where they raised their two children, Diane and Jeffery.
Judy worked at 3M in Hutchinson for nine years.
She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her early 30s and learned how to cope with her handicap through trying times.
Judy didn’t let her handicap stop her from enjoying life. She liked to travel, watch birds, see wildlife, do Bible study, watch the children play, and talk with people. She was a great puzzle book fan, and always had a smile and encouraging words for everyone.
Judy is survived by her husband, Clifford, of Cokato; daughter Diane (Lynn) of Anoka; son Jeffery (Shelley) of Lexington Park, MD; sisters Kathy Wittenberg of Elk River, Susie Koeppe of Howard Lake, and Becky (Leon) Brutger of Cokato; brother Scott (Sherrie) Carlen of Cokato; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service took place Thursday, March 17 at 2 p.m. at Stockholm Lutheran Church of Cokato, with visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato.
