Elaine Wozniak-Mullin Obituary – 2/27/2011


Elaine Wozniak-Mullin, age 79, of Cokato, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011.

She was born Nov. 28, 1931, in Hale Township, McLeod County, the daughter of Robert and Alice Jerabek Ruzicka.

At the age of 4 months, the family moved to a farm near Henry’s Corners. Elaine attended school in her early years at District 62, then Catholic School and high school in Silver Lake.

Elaine and Louis Wozniak were joined in holy marriage Sept. 21, 1948. They lived on a farm in Wright County, near Cokato, for 28 years, and moved into the city of Cokato in 1976. Louis passed away in 1986.

Elaine enjoyed dancing, traveling to Las Vegas, Arizona, Branson, and Hawaii; crocheting, and driving people around. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was entertained by her grandchildren’s ball playing.

Elaine thoroughly enjoyed life. She always liked a joke and could tell one, too.

A faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, Elaine had a strong Catholic faith which she passed on to her family. She considered serving as a Eucharistic minister to be an honor.

Elaine was joined in holy marriage to Robert J. Mullin Feb. 9, 2002, at The Church of St. Mary in Waverly.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Mullin; children Diane (Bruce) Severson, Nancy (Duane) Burkstrand, and Roxanne Wessman, all of Cokato, Duane (Cherri) Wozniak of Maple Grove, and Melissa (Jerry) Anderson of Big Lake; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her first husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alice Ruzicka; a grandson, Daryn Louis Anderson; and brothers Ivan and Jerome Ruzicka.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, March 4 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Father Tony Stubeda was the celebrant.

Visitation was Thursday, March 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake, with an American Legion Auxiliary memorial service at 4:45 p.m., a combined Rosary Society and CCW rosary recited at 5 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m.

Honorary casket bearers were Kris Urvina, Sara Mueller, Stacy Burkstrand, Jennifer Rudolph, Jacqueline Vasseur, Cassandra Anderson, Myranda Anderson, Daryn Anderson, and Nelson Anderson.

Casket bearers were Marc Keith, Brent Burkstrand, Pete Burkstrand, Tyler Wessman, Brenyn Anderson, Michael Mueller, Mike Rudolph, and Mike Vasseur.

The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake served the family.
