Frances T. “Fran” Neumann, age 89, of Winsted, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born March 15, 1922, in St. Paul, the daughter of Joseph and Johanna Mahoney Walsh.
Fran graduated from St. Matthew’s Catholic High School in St. Paul, and served as varsity girl’s’ basketball coach.
She was joined in holy marriage to William M. Neumann Oct. 17, 1953, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in St. Paul. God blessed their marriage with three sons, John, Gary, and David.
Fran was formerly employed at Sterner Lighting in Winsted, in accounts payable, from 1964 until 1984.
She later did volunteer work at the Holy Trinity rectory in Winsted for Father Wyffels.
Fran especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and belonged to its CCW.
Fran is survived by her loving sons, John W. (Janice) Neumann of Winsted, Gary T. Neumann of Mankato, and David M. (Eileen) Neumann of Lester Prairie; grandchildren Alyssa and Zachary Neumann, and Robert and Samantha Neumann; great grandson Michael William Neumann; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, Dec. 25, 2008; her parents; a brother, Joseph; and sisters Mary, Mildred, and Margaret “Etta.”
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Tony Hesse as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the chapel at St. Mary’s Care Center, and continued Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with recitation of a CCW rosary at 7 p.m., followed by parish prayers.There was also additional visitation Wednesday, Sept. 21 from 9 to 10 a.m. at The Chilson Funeral Home.
Casket bearers were Zachary Neumann, Alyssa Neumann, Robert Neumann, Rick Neumann, Robert Mochinski, and Steve Quast.
