Dennis J. Oeffling Obituary – 8/14/2011


Dennis “Denny” James Oeffling, age 55, of St. Michael, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, succumbing to injuries he suffered in a tragic accident at work.

He was born Jan. 25, 1956, to Peter and Rose (Klonne) Oeffling in Wayzata.

Denny grew up in Hamel, and graduated from Delano High School.

He enjoyed working on the family farm and doing all the chores associated with it. Denny was his family’s handyman, fixing everything and anything.

He enjoyed racing cars, working in the pit crew, and spending time with his friends talking racing.

Denny and his wife, Karen enjoyed traveling, seeing the country and doing things together. They loved their dogs, Malcolm and Stella, who were key parts of their lives.

Denny was employed at Westside Tire for more than 16 years. He truly loved his work and took great pride in serving the Corcoran community and surrounding area.

Denny is survived by his wife, Karen; children Alison (Curtis) Keplin, Erica Gourneau, D.J., Angie, and Richie; grandchildren; and siblings John Oeffling, Marie (Henry) Dubay, Lorraine (Ronald) Hartneck, Margie Dalbec, and Carolyn Anderson.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto. The Rev. Nathanial Meyers celebrated the Mass with Deacon Darrell Courier.

Visitation was Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano, and continued Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church, prior to Mass.

Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
