Douglas F. Olson, age 90, of Dassel, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
He was born Aug. 10, 1921, in Dassel, the son of Fred and Minnie (Norden) Olson. Douglas grew up in the Dassel area, and graduated from the Dassel High School in 1939.
He then attended the University of Minnesota until World War II, when he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard until he was discharged in 1946. His duties were port security.
For 36 years, Douglas worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation, in various parts of the state. In 1960, Douglas began working in traffic engineering in the central office in St. Paul, retiring in 1983.
He is survived by cousins and friends.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside service took place at the Dassel Community Cemetery in Dassel Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel handled the arrangements.
