Doris L. Persian, age 94, of Buffalo, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born March 20, 1917, in St. Paul, the second of four children born to Sigurd and Catherine (Nagel) Nord.
Doris was raised in Howard Lake, where she could often be found working in the family café, The Puritan.
Gifted with a beautiful voice, she and her sisters sang as a trio, live, on WDGY radio while in high school.
Doris married Arvid Persian Jan. 1, 1938, and was blessed with four children.
Doris enjoyed spending time “up north” at the cabin, reading, and following the Minnesota Twins. She was an excellent cook and well-known for baking delicious breads and goodies.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Doris is survived by her children, Gene (Rosie) Persian of Buffalo, Yvonne (Russ) Barto of Chaska, and James Persian of Buffalo; daughter-in-law Jenean Persian of Gillette, WY; and grandchildren Douglas Persian of Buffalo, Lisa (Gary) Wolf of Roseville, Tiffany (Howard Reinhard) Nelson, Kristi (Dan) Ross, all of Watertown, Nicole (Darrell) Meyer of New Prague, Chip (Jill) Barto of Victoria, Randy (Alisa) Barto of Chaska, Clayton Persian, Cameron Persian and Kelsey Persian, all of Gillette, WY, and Alex Persian and Ellie Persian, both of Buffalo.
She is further survived by seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Arvid Persian; parents Sigurd and Catherine (Nagel) Nord; a son, Jon Persian; two sisters; and a brother.
A memorial service took place Thursday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church, in Buffalo, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
