Edith Elvera Peterson, age 78, of rural Biscay, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
She was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Cokato, the daughter of Franklin and Agnes (Bjurstrom) Holm. Edith was baptized as an infant Nov. 12, 1933, and confirmed in her faith as a youth June 22, 1947, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato, by the Rev. Oscar A. Peterson.
She received her education in the Cokato School District.
Edith was united in marriage to Omar Peterson April 26, 1956, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato. This marriage was blessed with five daughters, Kathryn, Connie, Pamela, Susan and Naomi.
Edith and Omar resided in the Hutchinson area, and later moved to rural Biscay. They shared 55 years of marriage.
A loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Edith was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, and also a member of the Hassan Valley Homemakers.
She enjoyed crafts, embroidery, quilting, and being a member of a card club. Edith especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
Edith is survived by her husband, Omar Peterson of rural Biscay; daughters Kathryn Stueber and her husband, James, of Cosmos, Pamela Greenwalt and her husband, Steven of Glencoe, Susan Peterson of rural Biscay, and Naomi Nord and her husband, Erik of Mayer; grandchildren Loree Winstanley, Barry Holst, Tiffany McGlocklin, Cayla Holst, Travis Peterson, Reba Peterson, Levi Greenwalt, and Kelsie Nord; and many special great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by sisters Helen Peterson of Cokato, and Arlene Phinney and her husband, James of Dent; brothers Chester Holm of Elk River, Carl Holm and his wife, Marg, and Stanley Holm, all of Cokato; and many other relatives and friends.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Agnes Holm; a daughter, Connie Holst; a sister, Evelyn Hintz; a brother, Ronald Holm; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with the Revs. Randy Freund and Paulus Pilgrim officiating. The eulogy was given by Gary Hoffman. Music was provided by organist Shirley Holtz; and soloist Gary Hoffman, who sang “The Lord’s Prayer,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” The congregational hymn was “Here I Am Lord.” Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery, Hutchinson.
Casket bearers were Loree Winstanley, Barry Holst, Tiffany McGlocklin, Cayla Holst, Travis Peterson, Reba Peterson, Levi Greenwalt, and Kelsie Nord.
