Letitia “Tish” Amelia Peterson, age 68, of Maple Lake, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at Christus Spohn Hospital - Shoreline in Corpus Christi, TX, with her family at her side.
She was born May 20, 1943, to Hugo and Evelyn (Schmitt) Kahlhamer, at their home in Delano.
Tish graduated from Delano High School with the class of 1961.
She was united in marriage to Robert E. Peterson Feb. 24, 1978, in Watertown, SD. He preceded her in death Dec. 23, 2010.
Tish worked at Wright Hennepin in Maple Lake before becoming a daycare provider at her home. After retiring from daycare, she worked at Roger’s Amoco in Maple Lake, and DeZiel Heating and A.C.
She was a volunteer at Corinna Township for elections and the census.
Tish enjoyed ceramics, making porcelain dolls, shopping, bingo, Sudoku, traveling, walking, exercising, dancing, Zumba, and being a Silverado VIP groupie.
A caregiver to many, she loved to be with people, to share a cup of coffee with friends, to spend time with her children, and play with her grandchildren.
Tish is survived by her five children and their spouses, Milissa Peterson of San Diego, CA, Dana and Mike DeZiel of Buffalo, Daniel and Khaliun of Eagan, Steven and Sara of Maple Lake, and Brian and Erin of St. Paul; three sisters and their spouses, Elaine Hammer of Minneapolis, Patty and Evans Benz of Green Valley, AZ, and Bonnie and Gary Yanish of Plymouth; and seven grandchildren, Megan, Hanna, George, Leo, Sydnee, Ella and Parker.
In addition to her husband, Bob, she was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Evelyn; and a brother-in-law, Gil Hammer.
Memorial services took place Thursday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake with Deacon Ron Freeman officiating. Friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was Friday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery, Little Falls.
