Roger James Putney, age 76, of Cokato, formerly of Hutchinson, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Cokato Manor.
The son of Charles and Mary Rose (McNellis) Putney, Roger was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Hutchinson, where he grew up and received his education.
Roger married Marie Benton Jan. 25, 1958, in Hutchinson, and spent most of his married life working for farmers in the Cokato and Howard Lake areas.
He is survived by his son, James (Mary) Putney; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Alsleben, Lucille (Richard) Smykalski, and Faye Prieve; four brothers, Donald (Darlene), Wallace (Marilyn), John (Rosie), and Russell (Darlene); and two sisters-in-law, Marge Putney Palmann and Elnora Putney.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marie (Benton) Putney; sister Dorothy Stafne; brothers Norman, Robert, and Wayne Putney; sister-in-law Juanita Putney; and brothers-in-law Sam Stafne, Sam Prieve, and Melvin Alsleben.
The funeral was Wednesday, March 16 at 2 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato with Celebrant Al Jones officiating. Interment was at the Cokato Cemetery.
There was visitation one hour prior to the service.
Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
