Herman F. Quaas, age 88, of Maple Plain, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Maple Plain, the son of Herman F. and Hulda (Bjerke) Quaas. Herman was baptized April 25, 1937, and confirmed May 16, 1937, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Excelsior by the Rev. Martin Tape.
Herman’s number-one priority in life was his family, and he loved to visit with family and friends whenever they were together.
He was an assessor for Minnetrista for many years, and had his real estate license. In addition, he enjoyed the farm and taking care of the land.
Herman was preceded death his parents, Herman and Hulda Quaas; brothers Otto, Carl, and Benjamin Quaas; sisters Florence Guetzkow and Hulda Schroeder; brothers-in-law Harold Guetzkow, Clarence Schroeder, Ellsworth Thaemert, and Harold Thaemert; and sisters-in-law Dorothy Quaas, and Deloris Quaas.
He is survived by his loving family: Ginger Hines of San Diego, CA, Helen and Alex Schumacher of New Germany, Lucille Thaemert of New Germany, Marian and Richard Mielke of New Germany; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The funeral service was Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mound with the Rev. Mike Michalk officiating. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Mound.
Visitation was Monday, Aug. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with a chapel service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Casket bearers were Marvin Quaas, Jerry Guetzkow, Darwin Quaas, Dale Schumacher, Earl Thaemert, Wayne Thaemert, Randy Quaas, and Josh Guetzkow.
