Elma Mary Robinson, age 95, of Cokato, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Heritage Place in Cokato.
She was born Nov. 10, 1915, near French Lake, to Sophie and John Dorma. Elma was raised on the family farm and received her education at a small country school near her home.
She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her faith at the Apostolic Finnish Lutheran Church of Cokato.
Elma was married to Hubert Leo Robinson Sept. 10, 1935, at the First Presbyterian Church of Howard Lake. They were blessed with three children, a daughter and two sons.
Elma and Hubert resided and farmed on an 80-acre homestead southwest of Howard Lake, where Hubert passed away in 1973 after 38 years of marriage.
Elma continued to live on the farm after her husband’s death until 1996, when she moved to the Cokato Apartments.
In 2004, because of declining health caused by dementia, Elma moved to Heritage Place, a facility caring for those with dementia and Alzheimer’s, at the Cokato Manor.
Elma enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and especially playing her electric organ. She loved to sing hymns, and would encourage others to sing with her.
Elma had a strong faith in her Lord and in the promises of His Word.
She was proud of her Finnish heritage and could speak the Finnish language.
Elma will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Robinson of Medina; sons Terry and his wife, Yvonne Robinson of Howard Lake, and Sheldon and his wife, Diane Robinson of Hutchinson; two grandsons, Daniel (Jenny) Robinson of Howard Lake, and Philip Robinson of Lester Prairie; three brothers, Hubert Dorma of South St. Paul, Edward (Mayme) Dorma of Elk River, and Sermert Dorma of Minneapolis; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

The funeral service took place Sunday, March 6 at New Life Assembly of God Church in Cokato, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Alan Jones officiating. Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
