Robert B. “Bob” Roepke, age 55, of New Germany, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, in Aitkin County, McGrath, MN.
He was born Aug. 15, 1956, in Watertown, the son of Norville C. and Arlene L. (Denbrook) Roepke. Bob was baptized Aug. 26, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer, and confirmed May 17, 1970, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by the Rev. Cordes.
He was united in marriage to Annie M. Goethke Dec. 29, 1978, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America by the Rev. Henry Fry.
Bob was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, and uncle. He truly enjoyed his grandchildren.
Bob is a 20-year veteran of the New Germany Fire Department, long-time employee of Kohls Hardware in New Germany, and recently was a rural mail carrier in New Germany and Mayer.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, selling bait, trap shooting, and watching car races at Arlington Race Way.
Bob was an all-around good helper (jack of all trades).
He was preceded in death by his father, Norville C. Roepke; father-in-law and mother-in-law Wallace and Delores Goethke; brother-in-law Richard Goethke; and aunts and uncles.
Bob is survived by his loving family; wife Annie; children and spouses, Angela and Jacob Pawelk of Waverly, Bradley “Bud” and Ashley Roepke of Mayer, and Carla and Joe Maas of Howard Lake; and grandchildren Erica Pawelk, Lucas Pawelk, Ava Roepke, and Emily Roepke.
He is further survived by his mother, Arlene Roepke of New Germany; brothers and sister-in-law Dale Roepke of New Germany, and Sidney and Michele Roepke of Lester Prairie; sister and brother-in-law Katie and Kyle Raether of Chaska; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ron and Charlene Goethke of Arlington, Don and Diane Goethke of Arlington, Janet and Joe Fank of St. Mary’s, KS, and Joan and the Rev. Frederick Jabs of Sheboygan, WI; nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday, No. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Friday for one hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers were Craig Roepke, Richard Roepke, Doug Roepke, Alan Rolf, Mark Rolf, Leon Stender, Ron Schmidt, and Keith Denbrook.
Honorary casket bearers were Erica Pawelk, Lucas Pawelk, Ava Roepke, Emily Roepke, Stephanie Schmidt, Jason Schmidt, Kevin Roepke, Jacob Raether, and Hailey Raether.
