Leonard G. Schultz, age 98, of Waconia, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
He was born March 18, 1912, in Bismarck Township, Winthrop, the son of Herman and Martha (Witt) Schultz.
Leonard played the accordion and harmonica, and also enjoyed listening to music, especially old tyme music. He was a craftsman, being a jack-of-all-trades, and loved his job.
Leonard was always telling a good joke. He enjoyed going fishing and taking vacations to northern Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Martha Schultz; sisters Alpha Redmond, and Olivia Borth; and brothers Benjamin Schultz, Clarence Schultz, and Vernon Schultz.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Martha; son and daughter-in-law Norman and Karen Schultz of Fridley; daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Todd Reid of Waconia; grandchildren Karl Schultz, Marcus Schultz, Kelly Reid, and Kristy Reid; brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Della Schultz of Brownton; sisters and brother-in-law Adeline and Melvin Litzau of Glencoe, Bernice Bierstadt of Gaylord, and Inez Alsleben of Glencoe; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Hilde and Helmut Knapp of Germany; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Thursday March 10 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with the Rev. Robert Alsleben officiating. There was visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Lowell Litzau, Mark Schultz, Doug Schultz, Larry Litzau, Roger Schultz, and Paul Schieck.
Honorary casket bearers were Karl Schultz, Marcus Schultz, Kelly Reid, and Kristy Reid.
