Marvin Schumacher Obituary – 11/18/2011


Marvin Albert Schumacher, age 76, of Gilbert, AZ, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, surrounded by family .

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Delano, with a gathering preceding the Mass, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors, followed by lunch at St. Joseph Church Hall in Delano.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Disabled American Veterans fund at DAV.org. or the Delano American Legion Post 377 in honor of Marvin’s strong support of veteran causes.

Arrangements are being handled by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Marvin took pride in working hard, and enjoyed his family, traveling, and a good laugh.

He served in the United States Marine Corps.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Julia (Schmit) Schumacher; a brother, Richard (Dick) Schumacher; a sister, Mildred (Millie) Peppin; sisters-in-law Vonnie Schumacher, and Virginia Schumacher; and a nephew, Bill Schumacher.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Betty (Fewell) Schumacher; his children, James Schumacher (Debbie), John Schumacher (Cathy), Jeanne Schumacher (Mike Seath), Marianne Schumacher (Richard Abraham), Catherine Schumacher, and Linda Schumacher; three children by marriage, Kevin Fewell (Annie), Kim Webb (Joe), and Kory Fewell (Melissa); 24 grandchildren; 13 great-children; brothers Don (Bev) Schumacher and Ralph (Carmela) Schumacher; sisters Rose (Paul) Grengs, Alicia (David) Smith, Julie Nedemeyer, Lou (Bob) Sheridan, and Sister Theresa Schumacher OSB; brother-in-law Ronald Pepin; and Heidi Ries Langenfeld, mother of his children.
