Bernice M. Schwalbe Obituary – 1/11/2011


Bernice M. Schwalbe, age 95, of Waconia, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center.

She was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Jarvis) Morisette. Bernice was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis, and confirmed at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Carver.

Bernice was united in Marriage to Orville W. Schwalbe Feb. 14, 1936, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska.

Some of Bernice’s enjoyments were playing bingo, puzzles, baking, cooking, crocheting, and bowling league.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; son Michael Schwalbe; sons-in-law Donald Litfin, and Norm White; parents Andrew and Mary Morisette; four brothers; and two sisters.

Bernice is survived by her loving family; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Edward Rehbein of St. Bonifacius, Sharon and Vincent “Mick” Giesen of Waconia, Pauline and Jerry Youngblom of Zimmerman, Jean White of Pomona, CA, and Vickie Litfin of Waconia; grandchildren Bob and Kathleen Rehbein, Debra Rehbein, Jim Rehbein, Ron and Dawn Rehbein, Nate and Kim Giesen, Steve Giesen, Tim and Holly Giesen, Chuck and Cathy Giesen, Dave and Terry Youngblom, Kim and Vince Belanger, Bill Schwalbe and friend Greg, John and Margot Schwalbe, Rick and Laura Schwalbe, Tammy White, Jason Litfin, Jenny Litfin and Blake, and Michael and Amanda Litfin; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Jan. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Thomas Joseph as celebrant of the Mass. Visitation was for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Her final resting place is Zoar Moravian Cemetery in Waconia.

Casket bearers are Bob Rehbein, Ron Rehbein, Steve Giesen, Tim Giesen, Chuck Giesen, Dave Youngblom, Jason Litfin, Michael Litfin, and Bill Schwalbe.
