Gerry Schwichtenberg, age 85, of Austin, TX, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, after a month-long struggle with multiple health issues, and under the loving care of hospice and her immediate family.
She was born Sept. 29, 1925, in Minneapolis, to Edith (aka Mrs. Santa Claus) and Sidney Quirk.
In her younger years, Gerry worked as a model for Munsingwear Clothing of Minneapolis, serving not only as a model, but as the figure on which Munsingwear designers created their lingerie.
Upon her marriage to Art, she settled down in Lester Prairie as a housewife.
Gerry spent her spare time shopping, golfing, and puttering around the house.
She was a member of Prairie Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lester Prairie, and enjoyed activities with her friends, especially the monthly Birthday Club gathering. A day spent having lunch with the girls, shopping in Minneapolis, and meeting up for dinner with her husband was a great day.
She and Art enjoyed spending their winters in Brownsville, TX, and later in Naples, FL.
A strong, charming, and funny woman, Gerry will be missed greatly by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Art Schwichtenberg; and her only sibling, James Quirk.
Gerry is survived by her children and grandchildren.
Her family will travel to Minnesota this summer for a memorial gathering.
