Juliana M. Simons Obituary – 8/31/2011


Juliana M. Simons, age 93, of Waconia, died Wednesday Aug. 31, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.

She was born May 4, 1918, in Eagle Butte, SD, the daughter of Julius and Elizabeth (Schurmann) Schrempp. Juliana was baptized and confirmed in Eagle Butte, SD.

Juliana was united in marriage to Lawrence N. Simons Sept. 6, 1941, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Nine children were born to this marriage.

Juliana and Lawrence lived in St. Bonifacius for 23 years, and then moved to Waconia in 1972.

Most important to Juliana were her family and her faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; parents Julius and Elizabeth Schrempp; son-in-law Wilfred Schug; and brothers Leonard, Rudolph, Leander, and Gerald Schrempp.

Juliana is survived by her loving family; children and spouses Carol and Dennis Paal of Coon Rapids, Donna and Harlan Lemke of Waconia, Shirley and Tony Remer of Howard Lake, Bonnie and Denis Laumann of Waconia, Lois and Jim Hendricks of Watertown, Larry and Helen Simons of Young America, Jan and Al Heuer of Waconia, Paul and Barb Simons of Glencoe, and John and Kay Simons of Howard Lake; 26 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She is further survived by a sister, Marcella Notermann of Shakopee; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Delores Schrempp of Victoria, Mary and Dick Buhr of Wheatridge, CO, and Margaret Goff of Edina; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday Sept. 5 at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Lawrence Blake as celebrant of the Mass. There was visitation two hours prior to the Mass at the church. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Juliana’s grandsons were her casket bearers: Bob Paal, Tom Paal, Don Paal, Tim Lemke, Kevin Laumann, Billy Simons, Mike Simons, Bob Simons, and Aaron Simons.

Her granddaughters were honorary casket bearers: Sue Jerde, Amy Cardinal, Nicole Fritsche, Becky Vos, Katie Barden, and Julie Witt.
