Audrey A. Tessmer, 90

Audrey A. Tessmer, age 90, of Loretto, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at the Haven Homes of Maple Plain.

She was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Rockford. Audrey was baptized Nov. 14, 1920, at Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford. She was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith April 9, 1933, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Audrey’s confirmation memory verse was John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

She was joined in holy marriage with Marvin A. Tessmer June 25, 1944, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenwood Township. God blessed their marriage with three children.

Audrey and Marvin engaged in dairy farming.

Audrey was a faithful member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield.

She is survived by her loving children, Judy Arndt of Menasha, WI, Jean (Fred) Pfotenhauer of Rogers, and James (Rachel) Tessmer of Loretto; 10 grandchildren: Tierney Arndt, Heidi (Dan) Lindner, Joel Arndt, John (Erica) Pfotenhauer, Luke (Jocelyn) Pfotenhauer and Katie Stodola; Anna (Eric) Bramos, Lara (William) Radintz, Jared Tessmer and Maria (Nathan) Eckhoff; and 10 great-grandchildren: Lilly, Audrey and Benjamin Radintz, William and Andrew Bramos, Jack Pfotenhauer, Jacob and Seth Pfotenhauer, and Thomas and Lydia Stodola.

Audrey is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Delphine Schleif and Dorothy Tessmer; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin A. Tessmer, in 2004; a son-in-law, Ron Arndt in 2009; a great-granddaughter, Sofia Bramos; her mother; a brother, Vincent Schleif; and two sisters, Bernice Gorian and Fern Bursch.

Funeral services took place Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield with the Rev. Dennis K. Strong officiating. Jan Nelson was the organist for the funeral service. Interment was at the Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenfield from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Wednesday for one hour prior to the funeral service.

Casket bearers were John and Luke Pfotenhauer, Joel Arndt, Jared Tessmer, William Radintz, Eric Bramos, Nathan Eckhoff, and Daniel Lindner.

Arrangements were by the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
