Monica Tuckenhagen, age 80, of Aitkin, formerly of Waverly, died Friday, March 4, 2011.
She was born Jan. 9, 1931, in St. Cloud, the daughter of William and Theresa (Seep) Schwitalla.
Monica and George Tuckenhagen were united in holy marriage Oct. 26, 1950, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Delano. To this union were born four sons and one daughter.
Monica was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly for many years.
She enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball, and loved to discuss politics.
Monica is survived by her children, Thomas (Lynda) Tuckenhagen of Anoka, Terry (Becky) Tuckenhagen of Delano, Timothy (Annie) Tuckenhagen of Barnum, Tammy (Harry) Wirgau of Mora, and Troy Tuckenhagen of Zimmerman; grandchildren Todd, Tonya, Tracy, Dessie, Tillie, Tony and Gina; great-grandchildren Jason, Justin, Mason, Owen, Colin, Ashton, Landon, Samuel, Samantha and Dominique; sisters Doreen Bock and Loraine Vogelpohl; brother Gerald Schwitalla; long-time friend of over 70 years, Gloria Beckstrand; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, George Tuckenhagen; her parents, William and Theresa (Seep) Schwitalla; a sister, Irma; and a brother, Arnold.
The funeral service took place Thursday, March 10 at 1 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Waverly.
