Irma Uecker Obituary – 9/4/2011


Irma Caroline Uecker, age 86, of Annandale passed away on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011 at The St. Cloud Hospital.

She was born Jan. 31, 1925 in Chatham Township, Wright County, the daughter of Fred & Alvina Streich Koepke.

Irma was baptized Feb. 22, 1925 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by The Reverend Alfred Streufert. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 22, 1938 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church by The Reverend William Kanning. Her confirmation memory verse was John 11:25 Jesus said to her. “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me though he die, yet shall he live”.

As a young girl she attended The Rassat School and worked daily with her sisters and brother on their family farm.

On July 20, 1943, Irma Koepke and Marvin Uecker were joined in holy marriage at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township, Pastor Klausmeier officiated. God blessed their marriage with five children.

Irma and Marvin engaged in dairy farming in Albion Township until the late 70’s and then raised beef cattle and sheep.

She was a faithful, lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. She also belonged to the Ladies Aid.

Irma enjoyed her vegetable garden, canning and baking, playing cards, music, visiting with ladies at her Assisted Living Residence and always stood at the window waving goodbye to her family.

Her family was very important to her!

Survived by children: Myron (Joan) Uecker of Buffalo, Ralph (Cheryl) Uecker of Maple Lake, Mary Ann (Ron) Geisinger of Annandale, Barb (Duane) Major of Glenwood and Jane (Tim) Mol of Annandale; grandchildren: Jeff (Laura) Uecker, Sonya (Mark) Painschab, Mitch (Kim) Uecker, Nicole (Jesse) Chappell, Lori (Rick) Steffen, Michelle (Brian) Hofmann, Jason (Anne) Major, Micah (Ashley) Mol, Elisa (Jeremiah) Legatt, Sarah (Jerad) Happe, Joshua and Caleb Mol; great grandchildren: Benjamin & Elliot Uecker, Cameron & Hannah Painschab, Ruby & Clara Uecker, Connor & Logan Chappell, Kristina & Alex Steffen, Alex & Madison Hofmann, Hayley, Hannah & Jack Major, Adlyr Mol, Eli, Malachi & Anna Legatt and Ethan Happe; a sister: Frieda Gunderson; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband Marvin H. Uecker on September 17, 2000, her parents, an infant granddaughter (baby Major), two sisters and a brother: Clara Klemz, Lydia Goerke and Edwin A. Koepke.

Funeral services for Irma Uecker were held on Saturday, September 10th at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. Pastor Lynn Machula officiated. Ruth Goerke was the organist.

Interment followed at the church cemetery.

A visitation was Friday, Sept. 9 at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. A Prayer service was held at 7 p.m.

Casket Bearers were Irma’s granddaughters: Sonya Painschab, Lori Steffen, Nickie Chappell, Michelle Hofmann, Elisa Legatt and Sarah Happe.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Irma’s grandsons: Jeff Uecker, Mitch Uecker, Jason Major, Micah Mol, Josh Mol and Caleb Mol .
