Leo Joseph Vieau, age 89, of rural Howard Lake, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
He was born Sept. 30, 1921, in Marysville Township, Wright County, the son of Wilferd and Angeline Desotell Vieau.
Leo attended The Little Canada School in Marysville Township.
Leo was joined in holy marriage with Edna M. Uecker Nov. 25, 1941, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. God blessed their marriage with three children.
Leo and Edna purchased a farm in Middleville Township, Wright County in the early 1950s, where Leo engaged in dairy farming for many years. They built and moved into a new home on their farm in 1977.
Leo enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, his potato patch, his cattle, his family, and his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
Leo is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Edna M. Vieau; children Dennis (Barbara) Vieau, and Debbie (Dean) Brand, all of Howard Lake; four grandchildren: John Robinson, Heather Robinson., Philip Vieau and Jeff Brand; a great-grandchild, Adrian Robinson; a twin sister, Leah Stump of Buffalo; half brother Albert Vieau of Chisholm; sister-in-law Laurella Vieau of Buffalo; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Robinson, Sept. 22, 2010; his parents; and by a brother, Harvey Vieau.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Jan. 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, with visitation for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Father Timothy Cloutier was the celebrant. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waverly.
Casket bearers were John Robinson, James Allbee, Philip Vieau, Jeff Brand, Debbie Brand, and Dean Brand.
