Paula Ann Pennington-Wachs, age 57, of Delano, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at her home.
She was born June 8, 1954, in Pontiac, IL, to William and Helen Manker. Paula grew up in Pontiac, and spent time in Pembroke Pines, FL, prior to moving to Minnesota.
She graduated from Joliet Junior College and pursued a career in computer technology. When Paula left United Health Group, she began working with landscape design.
Paula was an active vendor at local farmers markets, selling her homemade soaps. She enjoyed spending time with her animals, especially going to dog shows with her award-winning corgi dog, Tiara.
Paula married Stephen Wachs Sept. 8, 2001. They lived in Wayzata for five years before moving to their Lucky Penny Farm near Delano.
Paula and her husband were members of the Mini Horse Club Association.
She will be remembered by family and friends as a master gardener, animal lover, outdoor enthusiast, reading tutor, Girl Scout volunteer, “soap lady,” and a loving and giving person.
Paula is survived by her husband, Stephen, of Delano; mother Helen Manker; brothers William and John Manker of Pontiac, IL; sister Susan Aldana of Jacksonville, FL; nieces Sarah, Jessica, Emily and Kaitlyn Manker and Zoe Aldana; as well as her beloved pet corgis, Tiara and Bliss; and her horses, Stella, Penny and Honey.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Manker.
Friends and family will be notified of a celebration of life that will take place at her log cabin in the woods sometime in the future.
