Dale A. Wiegert Obituary – 6/13/2011


Dale A. “Gramps” Wiegert, age 76, of Clitherall, formerly of Howard Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

He was born Sept. 3, 1934, to William and Loretta (Anderson) Wiegert in Pipestone.

Gramps was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was known as a shrewd scrabble player, as well as an avid cribbage player.

He was an accomplished storyteller who loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Gramps was also known for his crazy awesome inventive cooking techniques.

Dale was preceded in death by his daughters, Deb Niesen and Donna Wiegert; grandson Shane Niesen; parents William and Loretta “Florence” Wiegert; and brothers Dwight and James Wiegert.

He is survived by his children. Darrell (Barb) Wiegert, Duane (Cheryl) Wiegert, Dawn (Steve) Anderson, Darla (Chuck) Drusch, Deedee (Steve) Demarais, Denise Wiegert and Shaun K., and Dana (Kim) Wiegert; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings Arletta Backus, Bruce (Sandy) Wiegert, Janice Anderson, and Wade Wiegert.

Memorial services took place Saturday, June 18 at the Delano United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Olson officiating. Inurnment was in the Delano Public Cemetery.

Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
