Allan R. Wredberg, 73

Allan Roy Wredberg, age 73, of Palisade, former longtime resident of Montrose, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at Aitkin Health Services.

He was born July 24, 1937, in Anoka, to Alvin and Victoria (Carlson) Wredberg.

Allan attended country school in St. Francis, and graduated from St. Francis High School.

He served in the National Guard, and was a US Air Force veteran. Upon his discharge, Allan returned to Anoka.

He moved with his life partner, Margaret Perry, to Maple Grove and Montrose, and settled in Aitkin in 2001.

During his life, Allan was a mechanic for United Van Bus and then purchased Prestige Sanitation and Country Wide Sanitation, which served North West Minneapolis metro area. He sold Country Wide Sanitation to Randy’s Sanitation, and continued to work there until his retirement.

Allan is survived by his partner, Margaret Perry of Palisade; daughter Terri Lubrano of Largo, FL; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers and sisters-in-law John (Kathy) Ottenstroer of Andover, James (Susan) Wredberg of McGregor, and Thomas Wredberg and partner Isreal Castillo of Bolinas, CA; sisters and brothers-in-law Ann (Donald) Scherber of Rogers, Joanne (Walter) Brunner of Fairbanks, AK; and Dorthea (Phillip) Morris of Prescott, WI; an aunt, Margaret (Albert) Dorry of St. Paul; uncles Clifford (Betty) Carlson of Princeton, and Willard (Dianne) Carlson of Minneapolis; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie; his father, Alvin, in 1992; his mother, Victoria, in 1954; stepmother Catherine (Ottenstroer) in 2005; and ex-wife Julia.

A memorial service took place Thursday, July 21 at 1 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Palisade, with visitation for one hour prior to the service in the church. The Rev. William Sass officiated. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Anoka at a later date; with military honors provided by Palisade VFW Post 1721 and Aitkin American Legion Post 86.
