Steven Douglas Anderson, age 53, of Morris, formerly of Dassel, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, due to injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident near Jackson, WY.
He was born Sept. 25, 1958, in Litchfield, the son of Harold and Verna (Kumpula) Anderson.
Steve graduated from Dassel-Cokato High School in 1976. After his schooling, Steve worked at a seed corn plant in the Dassel area.
He was united in marriage to Connie Erickson Aug. 12, 1978, at the Peace Lutheran Church at Barrett, MN. The couple moved to Morris, where Steve worked for Trademark Homes, Morris Co-op, and as a custodian at the Morris Elementary School.
In 1988, Steve began working for Tri-Co Ag. Service at Hancock. Then, in 2006, Steve began working for Superior Industries. While at Superior, Steve worked as a final assembler and for the last several years as a welder.
Steve was a member of First Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing softball, and was a Little League coach for 12 years. Steve’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends, but most of all, he loved being with his six grandchildren.
Steve is survived by his wife, Connie of Morris; two sons, Ryan (Laura) Anderson, and Justin Anderson, all of Morris; two daughters, Marisa (Matt) Carlson of Morris, and Sarah (Colby) Schultz of Hoffman; his mother, Verna Anderson of Dassel; a brother, Bryan (Dezra) Anderson of San Clemente, CA; a sister, Sheila Steffen of Winsted; and six grandchildren, Damien, Skott, Abigail, Brayden, Aaden and Wyatt.
He is further survived by brothers-in-law Dale Erickson of Barrett, Darryl (Carol) Erickson of Kensington, and Dean Erickson of Barrett; four sisters-in-law, Nancy (Marvin) Simar of Barrett, Peggy (Bill) Pasche of Hoffman, Susan (Dale) Murray of Alexandria, and Janice (Troy) Reinking of Ireton, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Harold; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Ardyce Erickson; one brother-in-law, Donald Steffen; and one niece, Jill Pasche.
The funeral service took place Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church at Morris, with the Rev. Paul Erdal officiating. Julie Thymian was the soloist, and Deb Mahoney was the organist for the service. Burial was at the Wennersborg Cemetery, near Kensington.
Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m,. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris.
Pallbearers were Bill Pasche, Marvin Simar, Dale Murray, Troy Reinking, Rick Garvin, and Jason Armstrong.
