Margy Balboul Obituary – 2/21/2012

Talking all the way to her last, great journey, Margy Balboul, age 74, of Winsted, passed away the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, surrounded by family, friends, and love – with angel mother Mabel calling her to join her and father Jim in heaven.

Though bedridden for the past three years at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted, Margy continued to stay connected to family and friends, made many new friends, and touched many lives along the way.

Margy was born in Waverly, (delivered by “Doc” Roholt) in 1938, graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School, and attended St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul.

She married Gene Yager of Howard Lake in 1960, resided in Howard Lake, and worked as a social worker in Wright County. Gene was taken from her suddenly in a terrible accident just at the start of their life together.

After this, Margy began to travel, had many international adventures – and on one of those trips, met her second husband, Elie Balboul.

They had several businesses and lived in many exotic places. Eventually, they moved back to the US, and resided in Arizona, and then Howard Lake. Elie returned to his homeland, Lebanon, and died while visiting there.

Margy resumed social work in 1981, in Alexandria, where she had many wonderful friends and colleagues – working in her often non-traditional way to help those less fortunate.

She is survived by her sisters, Jane FitzPatrick Nilan (Mike) of Minneapolis, and Arleen Peterson of Waverly; and her many nephews and nieces, whose lives she has impacted in so many ways.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly, with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church of Waverly.
