Betty A. Beightol, age 75, of Watertown, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Haven Homes in Maple Plain.
She was born April 20, 1936, in Clearwater County, the daughter of George and Edna (Hanson) Metcalf.
Betty was united in marriage to Dale E. Beightol Aug. 4, 1972, in Iowa.
Betty was a professional clown, which she enjoyed very much. She volunteered many hours for various organizations throughout the area, visiting the hospitals and schools and making everyone smile.
She was a creative person, and working with arts and crafts brought her much happiness. Betty also wrote poetry and would share the poems with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edna Metcalf; brothers Gordon and Merle Metcalf; and a sister, Phyllis Bergland.
Betty is survived by her loving family: husband Dale; children Timothy (Kirsten) Schoonover of Inver Grove Heights, LaNae Beightol of Clarion, IA, Jeff Schoonover of St. Peter, Joni Beightol of Webster City, IA, Dale Beightol Jr. of Iowa, and Kelly Beightol of Fort Dodge, IA; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Lou and Ron Anderson of Coon Rapids, and Dorothy and Ron Westrum of Elk River; brother and sister-in-law Don and Joyce Metcalf of Stacy; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Joan and Robert Day of Apple Valley, and Neil and Gail Beightol of Parkers Prairie; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Thursday Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at Lyndale Lutheran Church in Maple Plain with the Rev. Beth Johnson officiating. There was visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was at Watertown Public Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Chad Westrum, Reggie Metcalf, Nathan Anderson, Roger Nelson, John Wangsness, and Steven Gursky.
