Deloris Louise (Kuntz) Brelje, age 80, of Buffalo, formerly of Aitkin, was called home by her Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Sunrise Cottages Senior Living in Buffalo.
Funeral services will take place Monday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. at Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie, with interment at the Lester Prairie City Cemetery.
Pastor Greg Loomis will officiate at the service. Congregational hymns will include “Amazing Grace,” “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Jim Kocherer, Michael Kocherer, Kenneth Brelje, Mark Oelfke, Steve Rolf, Todd Rolf, and Jason Rolf will be casket bearers.
Deloris was born May 5, 1932, in Camden Township, the daughter of Alfred and Edna (Feltman) Kuntz. She was raised by Leland and Edna Berry.
Deloris was baptized as an infant, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth April 14, 1946, at the Evangelical & Reformed Church in Lester Prairie. Her confirmation verse was Ephesians 4:33.
She received her education at a country school.
Deloris was united in marriage to Wesley Brelje Oct. 5, 1952, by Pastor Fisher at the Evangelical & Reformed Church in Lester Prairie. Deloris and Wesley were always at each other’s side. The couple made their home in Glencoe, Inver Grove Heights, and Aitkin, MN, and Clermont, FL.
Deloris and Wesley shared over 58 years of marriage until Wesley passed away Dec. 28, 2010.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Deloris worked at the Armour Packing Company.
She enjoyed her lake home in Aitkin, going to auctions and flea markets, gardening, hosting get-togethers, cooking, canning, and playing bingo. She also loved spending winters in Florida, as well as eating out with friends. Deloris especially cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
When Deloris needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of Sunrise Cottages Senior Living in Buffalo.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Brelje of South Saint Paul; son-in-law Roger Kocherer of Savage; grandsons James Kocherer and his wife, Bridgette, of Big Lake, and Michael Kocherer of Champlin; a granddaughter, Heather Brelje of New Brighton; and great-grandchildren Madeline, Ethan and Kaylee Kocherer.
Deloris is further survived by sisters, Betty Lou Rolf of Burnsville, and Beverly Schiller and her husband, Don, of Lafayette, CO; a sister-in-law, Stella Oelfke of Shakopee; brothers-in-law Gerald Leske of Del Rey Beach, FL, and Delford Leske and his wife, Irene, of Winthrop; special family friend, Marilyn Hoffies; nieces’ nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Wesley, Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Edna Kuntz; stepfather Leland Berry; and her daughter, Cheryl Kocherer.
