John R. (“Brownie”) Brown, age 70, of Watertown, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012.
He was born Sept. 25, 1941, in Breckenridge, to John and Hedwig (Young) Brown.
John was a 1959 graduate Cotter High School in Winona.
He was united in marriage to Janet Richards Feb. 14, 1970, at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade.
John was a great umpire and loved to be at the ball field. He always knew how to make people laugh, and always had a hug to give.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hedwig Brown; sister and brother-in-law Patricia and George Degnan; brother Richard Brown; and brother-in-law David Peplinski.
John is survived by his wife, Janet; children Chris (Stacey) Brown, Jenny Brown, and Jayson Brown; grandchildren Corrine and Conner Brown; sister Donna Peplinski; and sister-in-law Renee Brown.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.
There was a gathering of family and friends Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, and it continued one hour prior to the services Thursday.
Arrangements were by the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
