Flavia G. “Fay” Carlson, age 90, of Watertown, died Tuesday July 17, 2012, at the Masonic Home in Bloomington.
She was born March 14, 1922, in Winsted, the daughter of Martin and Nellie (Merritt) Sherman. Fay was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
She was united in marriage to Ceylon Carlson June 15, 1940, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, by Father William H. Wey.
Fay really loved tending to her flower garden. She was an excellent embroiderer, and an accomplished sewer and stitcher. Fay prepared many wedding cakes for people throughout the area.
She and Cy would go out dancing at least three days a week when Cy retired, and they traveled to many different destinations during their lives.
Fay was preceded in death by her husband, Ceylon; parents Martin and Nellie Sherman; and 13 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her loving family; daughters Audrey (Larry) Schander of Surprise, AZ, and Cheryl (Allen) Tabbert of Bloomington; granddaughter Dawn (Gregg) Brown; great-grandson Christopher (Jaymie) Brown; sister-in-law Ardelle Carlson of Waconia; brother-in-law Leonard Anderson of Hibbing; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday July 20 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Fr. Joseph Fink and Fr. Mike Tix as con-celebrants. Interment followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.
Visitation was Thursday, July 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with vigil prayers at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Friday, one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
