Ruth Marie Carner, age 84, of Brainerd, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Riverside Assisted Living in Pillager, surrounded by the wonderful Riverside staff, and the very caring and loving staff of Heartland Hospice.
Ruth was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Darwin, to Claude and Dessie Mae (Gaffield) Kain. She graduated from Dassel High School in 1945.
Ruth moved to the Twin Cities and worked at Shriners Hospital.
She met Clifford Carner in Minneapolis, and they were married Sept. 23, 1955. They moved to the Brainerd area shortly after, and Ruth then stayed at home to raise their only son, David.
Ruth is survived by her son, David (Dorothy) of Pillager; two grandchildren, Clayton and Molly; and one great-grandson, Josiah (Jo-Jo). Ruth lived for her two grandchildren and, of course, Jo-Jo, who was the apple of her eye.
She was met at the gates of heaven by her parents; husband Clifford; brother Warren; and sisters, Jean, Peg, Doris, and Shirley.
Memorial services took place Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at Oak Street Chapel in Brainerd.
Ruth is finally resting pain-free.
