Robert LeRoy Hafften Sr., “Pops,” age 76, of rural Delano, formerly of Rockford, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at his home, with his family by his side.
He was born May 27, 1936, in Buffalo, to Earl and Ruby (Kettenacker) Hafften.
Robert was united in marriage to Mary Ann Twardy Aug. 20, 1960, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delano.
He was employed by the Delano Granite Works for 12 years, and GNL Contracting for over 25 years, retiring as a union 49er. Robert loved running all kinds of equipment, from dozers to tractors; as well as collecting and showing his prized Allis Chalmers and Oliver tractors. He was a member of the Northland Auto Club.
Robert and Mary Ann loved spending time in Texas, making and meeting new friends. Robert loved to socialize.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Lee Hafften; mother, Ruby Kettenacker; father and stepmother, Earl (Evelyn) Hafften; and a sister, Betty Stem.
Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ann; sons Michael (Leanna) Hafften, and Robert Jr. (Teresa) Hafften; granddaughter Sara; and a brother, Richard (Elaine) Hafften.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Delano, followed by interment at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Delano.
Visitation was Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. prayer service; and continued Thursday one hour prior to Mass.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
